“Creating an eco-village is defining a whole new culture.”

Christine Connelly, Sustainable Communities: Lessons from Aspiring Eco-Villages

Are you yearning for an alternative to suburbia? Do you want to maintain a connection to the biodiversity of the Byron region and its stunning coastline, while living affordably in community with others?

Bruns Eco Village offers an opportunity to bypass the dis-heartening issues of expensive, uncertain rental or impractical real estate prices. Whether you’re starting out in life and looking for your first home, looking for a supportive environment for your kids to grow in, or you are at a point where you would like to downsize and relax without being at the mercy of investment-oriented aged care facilities, this inter-generational community is open to everyone equally.

What’s involved?

Becoming a resident at Bruns Eco Village is a commitment to your future. This is a unique opportunity to support yourself and your neighbours, and to be supported by them to live together well.

Participants in the current Village Development Program have the opportunity to co-create their unique housing cluster with others who share similar values and ideals.

All residents of Bruns Eco Village must first participate in the Village Development Program (VDP). The current VDP is now underway and includes 5 workshops and 4 field days from September 2016 - December 2017. Once these participants have completed the requirements of the VDP they will have the opportunity to continue along the pathway to becoming a resident.

An intensive, shorter format VDP will be run in early 2018 for those who missed out on the full VDP program but would like to become a resident.

Choose something different

Success in the world doesn’t have to mean ownership of property. The members of Bruns Eco Village have a unique opportunity to write the story of shared, inclusive living in a beautiful corner of the world where collaboration means a win-win for everyone.

For those who already own a property it is possible to simultaneously become a resident and an investor. You may have recognised that real estate is a cycle, and that now is a good time to convert your equity by ethically investing in a not-for-profit, community-run eco village. By selling an existing property and investing in the Bruns Eco Village co-op resident investors can use their investment returns to reduce their rent.

We’re committed to ensuring that the eco village members predominantly own Bruns Eco Village.

We dream of un-busyness in our day-to-day lives, and a pace of life where people stop to talk to each other and help each other out. If this is something you believe in too, let’s create it together.

You can invest with impact and put your capital towards a unique ethical investment opportunity.

If you would like to live, work and learn with us in this sustainable, inter-generational community register for updates about future openings to become a resident.
